Top Boy Season 3 hits Netflix

13 Sep 2019

Following six years in exile, honest and gritty crime drama Top Boy is returning to screens; this time with a new home – Netflix.

Canadian rapper Drake picked up the series following its cancellation in 2013 by Channel 4. The news left fans reeling at the departure, especially taking into account the show’s cult following and notable accolades – including two Baftas.

Drake is the executive producer of the new 10-part season, airing on Friday 13 September 2019.

The drama follows Dushane  (Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane “Kano” Robinson) as they negotiate their drugs business in the underbelly of London. Tension, authenticity and socially relevant plotlines are a consistent theme of the show.

Looking to reclaim his throne as the drug lord and Top Boy of the East End, Dushane returns older and wiser from hiding and Sully is in tow for the ride. But with a power-hungry gang leader keeping the streets warm, ruthless Jamie (Michael Ward) isn’t making it easy.

Ronan Bennett, writer and creator, is back for the new season, alongside executive producer Alasdair Flind (for Cowboy Films).

Breathing fresh life into the newest chapter are Drake and his business partner Adel “Future” Nur. Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for SpringHill Entertainment are also putting their stamp on things.
